In-Person Workshop Reflection
Date: 3 May 2024
The in-person session on 3 May 2024 was the first of its kind in the Designing for Social Justice Partnerships course, particularly because it is an online course, receiving positive feedback for its engaging content and activities.
Dr. Xena welcomed participants and led a check-in exercise using emotion wheels to reflect on feelings. I, Zwelibanzi, facilitated an icebreaker exploring name meanings and favorite foods, emphasizing our commonalities.
Asanda introduced facilitation techniques and later discussed strategies for approaching difficult conversations. Esai shared insights on "Voices in the Field," bridging theory with practice. Ashley concluded with "Time to Think" principles, offering student-focused examples.
The session provided valuable hands-on learning and fostered deeper connections among participants, reinforcing the importance of experiential learning for social justice work.
